Enjoy some stellar Pinot Noir, Syrah and Chardonnay with Andy PeayJoin us Wednesday, July 9th, from 4:30-7:30pm, when we welcome Andy Peay, one of the owners of Peay Vineyards, to our Wine Bar .  Andy and Nick Peay are brothers, Nick is married to Vanessa Wong, and the three of them form a formidable trio growing, producing and selling some of the best wines of the region.  About ten years ago, when they decided to establish their business, they explored the Sonoma Coast extensively looking for that special property that would become the site of Peay Vineyards where they would specialize in Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Chardonnay. "We drove the back roads and coastal hills of the West Coast looking for that special plot of land." What they found was remote, foggy, cold, and windy with lousy soil that was dangerously exposed to Pacific storms: Perfect!

Ten years later their vineyard is producing stunning fruit under Nick’s watchful eye.  Vanessa has a delicate touch when making the wine, capturing the subtleties of the fruit and letting their site express itself.  Then Andy takes it to market and sells every drop. They also make a tiny bit of Viognier and a Roussanne/Marsanne blend. All of their wines are stunning, they exude all the best qualities of the grape without being over done.  They are a study in restraint, yet are richly satisfying without being heavy.  They strike the perfect balance between fleshy fruit and bright acidity and minerals. The wines are a marvel and a tribute to the power of three, especially when it is three of the best like Andy, Nick and Vanessa.

Come taste some truly remarkable wines that are full of character reflecting the properties of this special site. Sample some of the most distinctive Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Chardonnay to be found in this state. Having Andy Peay at Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant to  act as guide through this special tasting will make it even more memorable.

The featured wines are served as two ounce glasses. If you find a favorite, they are also offered as full glasses. The wines will be available for retail sales as well while supplies last....
