One whiff brings the aroma of warm earth that was sun-baked under the impossibly blue Italian sky. There is a traditional rustic nature to this wine that is composed of 100% Montepulciano from a very warm, ripe vintage. The flavors are ripe, rich and deep with firm structure that softens with every sip. It is undoubtedly from one of the warmest vintages Europe has ever seen, but it avoids going over the top with sappy fruit. There is a plummy jam flavor that lingers in the mouth. There is a distinction to this very drinkable, very satisfying red that seems to warm the soul as it is consumed. - Jeff Prather
