This blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Counoise from Redortier reflects the charm of the twin sisters that run the property. It is ripe, round, and smooth with lovely blackberry flavors and a hint of peppery spice on the long finish. This wine is nicely structured with fine tannins that support the fruit but don't intrude on the flavors. This is a delicious value from the Rhone. - Jeff Prather

One sip of this classically styled white wine from older vines in the Macon region of Burgundy reveals volumes of what Chardonnay can be like from this area. It is clean, unadorned with oak. Beautifully light yellow in color, it has a lovely bouquet, bursting with tart apple fruit flavors. This wine truly shows the greatness of Chardonnay with purity of fruit, ripeness, balance, racy acidity, and clarity of flavor.
In essence, this wine is showing Burgundy off to the world for what it truly can offer, and that is substantial. The name of this wine is pronounced "cahn-see," and it comes from the village of the same name near Sancerre in the Loire Valley. With its vivid herbal/citrus nose, brisk palate and extraordinary balance, this is a perfect alternative to Sancerre or Pouilly Fum and a real value in today's market. We see so few wines coming from the Savoie area in this country. This wine is made in an elegant, crisp style. It is lean and a bit austere in flavor with bright quince and yellow apple notes. It has some exotic character with lots of bright acidity, and flavors of lime zest on the long, clean finish. Most white wines from this region are typically made from the local Jacquere grape grown in vineyards nestled in the French Alps. However, this wine is a bit unusual in that it is made from 100% Altesse, typically a blending grape. This wine, like many of the wines of the region, is lean, delicious and refreshing, It is light in body, light in alcohol, alive and kicking on the palate, bone dry, and crisp at the finish. - Jeff Prather

This is another stunning example of what great wines are coming out of the Southern Rhone in the 2009 vintage. This wine literally bursts from the glass with spicy flavors of smoked meat, dark berries, and a delicate earthy finish with great acidity. It is comprised of the famous Rhone trio: Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre grapes. It is very dark in color and quite concentrated in flavor with extracted blackberry fruit, grippy tannins, and a rich, elegantly long finish. This is very drinkable today, but will absolutely shine with a few years of age. - Jeff Prather
