Raoul Raymond took over the family farm in the 1920s and dug up their cherry parcels to plant vines. Raymond's son, Emile, expanded the vineyard and with his son-in-law, Christian, established Domaine Berthet-Rayne in 1978. Today, the estate, which also includes rented vineyards, covers 3200 hectares of vines planted between Orange and Avignon, in Chateauneuf du Pape and surrounding Rhone appellations. They started converting to organic farming in 2002 and all their wines have been certified organic, Ecocert, since the 2007 vintage. The vines are planted to Grenache, Mourvčdre, Cinsault and Syrah for red grapes and Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Roussanne and Bourboulenc for white grapes. They produce four different red and one white Chateauneuf du Pape as well as white, red and rosé Cotes du Rhone Villages. This 2011 white blend from the village of Cairanne, is a blend of 50% Roussanne, 26% Grenache Blanc, 20% Clairette and 4% Bourboulenc.
