Erste means "first" and Neue means "new" in the local dialect of the Alto Adige. This wine is made by one of the high quality co-ops of this north-easternmost part of Italy in the valley of the grand Dolomites mountains.

This small collective has been making wine since 1900 and pulls fruit from high altitude sustainably farmed vineyards about 700 meters above sea level. It shows flavors of ripe bosc pear with meyer lemon and has nice acidity that gives it a clean, vibrant and fresh character. - Drea Dedona

Arneis is a wonderfully complex white grape of the Piedmont region in northern Italy, but it is rarely grown outside of that country. Dick and Nancy Ponzi's winery is one of three producers of Arneis in the United States and the only one in Oregon. They decided to plant this unusual grape in 1991 after returning from visiting their good friends, the Currado Family of the Vietti Winery in Barolo.
