One sip and you are given a clue that this wine was grown in a warm region in the south. It is one of the few 100% Monastrell (Mourvedre) wines from the Yecla region, aged in stainless steel. It has ripe, wild raspberry aromas with a juicy fruit quality that is accompanied by a touch of earth or terroir. Sin Madera means without wood, so the fruit is clear to shine through. It is cheerful on the tongue and friendly in its texture: smooth, round, bright, spicy and juicy. It is ever so easy to drink and for that reason may prove a touch dangerous. The delicious flavors make it worth the risk. This is a bargain quaffer. - Jeff Prather

This red blend from Southern France is fairly typical of the area with ripe fruit, dusty, earthy notes and plenty of body and alcohol. The name means the little king and that is exactly what this wine represents. It is not a large production wine and does not come from one of the big names in the Rhone, but it has a regal flavor at a bargain price.
