Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant in San Francisco

At Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant, we offer semi-private wine tasting events for up to 25 people in the front wine bar area and up to 30-50 people in the back wine bar area. We can also accommodate up to 75 people in the entire bar area or up to 100+ people in the Port Commission Hearing Room, which is a lovely, private room off the Grand Hall upstairs of the Ferry Building, with beautiful views of the bay and Bay Bridge.

Our tastings consist of pourings of a variety of wines which are selected by our expert wine merchants and offered to guests throughout the event. We also offer a wide selection of appetizers such as Oxbow Cheese Merchant and Cowgirl Creamery cheese platters, charcuterie platters from Boccalone and an assortment of other delicious, seasonal appetizers from our fellow merchants in the Ferry Building, such as Golden Gate Meats, MarketBar and Slanted Door.

Here are a few special event options we offer:

Wine tasting and appetizer mixer: For a more casual event, pre-selected wines and appetizers are prepared for your tasting and guests enjoy them while mingling with each other. Our bar staff and management are available to describe the wines and answer any questions guests may have.

Brown bag tasting: This is a fun, interactive event where the group tastes unidentified wines and guesses which wine they are tasting. The one closest to the correct answer receives a gift of some kind (ie. bottle of wine, gift certificate, etc). This is a fun, educational and casual team building experience. One of our wine experts will briefly describe the wines beforehand, highlighting the significance of each wine profile, in preparation for the tasting/profiling session.
This is best done with smaller groups up to 12 ppl.

Wine & cheese pairing: Explore and, sometimes, be surprised with how beautifully wine and cheese complement each other. We pair wine and cheeses for the group to taste and our wine experts are available to describe the flavor profiles throughout the tasting.

If you would like to host your event at your office or other designated venue, we offer off-site food and wine tastings as well.

Oxbow Wine Merchant in Napa

Oxbow Wine Merchant can accommodate groups as small as 10 and up to 100+. The open, light-filled shop and bar offers a comfortable venue for food and wine tastings.

If your preference is to have your event outdoors, we gladly offer use of our terrace overlooking the Napa River. To complement any of our wines, we offer a delicious food menu, which includes cheeses from our cheese shop, Oxbow Cheese Merchant, artisan meat plates, small appetizer plates, hearty panini sandwiches, sumptuous daily and seasonal specials, as well as a selection of yummy sweets.
