Please join us Wednesday, September 24th, any time between 4:30-7:30pm, when we welcome, Shawndra McCrorey and JD of Zigzagando, to our wine bar. JD, aka, James Dirickson, is the founder of this eclectic Italian wine import portfolio and Shawndra is his San Francisco Sales Manager. Together they make a fun, dynamic team who are eager to share delicious and distinctive wines from the following producers:

Lini 910 - Lini 910 was founded by Oreste Lini in 1910 in Correggio, Emilia-Romagna and is run today by the fourth generation Lini family, who own 25 hectares of vineyards with another 25 under contract. They have been making high quality Lambrusco for over 100 years and are one of the few producers to vinify a white Lambrusco. The 100% Lambrusco Salamino “Labrusca Bianco” is a delightful, dry sparkling wine that will change your mind about Lambrusco.

Orsi San Vito – The Orsi San Vito vineyard is situated 200 meters above sea level overlooking the city of Bologna in the Colli Bolognesi, Emilia-Romagna. The site is now farmed biodynamically and has been producing wine, namely from the Pignoletto grape, for over 50 years. The “Vigna del Grotto” is a wonderful expression of the indigenous Pignoletto varietal with minerality and verve.

Marco Carpineti - The Carpienti family has been growing wine in the Cori appellation of Lazio for several generations. Marco took over the reins in 1986 and converted all the vineyards to organic farming, establishing the winery as one of the highest quality producers in the area. The Capolemole Rosso is a soulful blend of mostly Montepulciano and Nero Buono di Cori with a little Cesanese.

Fanetti – Tenuta St. Agnese was one of the first wineries in Montepulciano to revive the traditional production of Vino Nobile at the turn on the 20th century. This 2000 vintage, which is their current release, is a blend of 85% Prunolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and 15% Caniolo and was aged for five years in large oak botte as well as several more years in bottle.

Giacomo Grimaldi – Ernesto Grimaldi founded his winery in 1930. When Giacomo Grimaldi inherited the estate in 1983 he continued to sell most of the fruit to other producers but reserved a small amount for his own family and friends. In 1996 his son, Ferruccio, kept the majority of the family’s fruit for the Grimaldi production and expanded the vineyard holdings to 10 hectares of Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. He is known as a perfectionist in the vineyard and for producing great value Barolo, as with this 2010 DOCG.

4:30-7:30

No reservations necessary

Please join us Friday, September 26thth any time between 4:30-7:30pm, when we celebrate Oktoberfest in the wine bar with a flight of five delicious German beers.

Oktoberfest is the annual beer festival that takes place in Munich, Germany from the end of September through early October. The first Oktoberfest took place in 1810 when King Ludwig I was planning his wedding. He wanted the people of Bavaria to celebrate the marriage, so he commissioned Hacker-Pschorr to develop special brews to commemorate the occasion. Today, under Bavarian law, only six breweries within the Munich city limits are invited to participate in the festival.

Tak Goto, our resident beer expert and buyer, will be on hand to tell us all about these historical breweries and the special Oktoberfest beers they brew specifically for this time honored celebration.
